A 50-year-old man identified as Ashiru Aliyu was killed by gunmen on Monday in Daulai village, in the Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
An unspecified number of women were also reportedly abducted by the gunmen who equally rustled some domestic animals and looted foodstuffs during the attack.
Residents said the gunmen, numbering about 30, arrived at the village about 1am, shooting indiscriminately, during which the 50-year-old was killed.null
It was learnt that some of the villagers escaped death by fleeing into the bush and nearby communities.
The spokesman for the Katsina Police Command, SP Gambo Isah, confirmed Ashiru’ s death but said he had yet to clarify the number of women abducted.
Recall that the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Mustapha Inuwa, on Monday said the state had in the last five years spent over N4.2bn “on infrastructure, logistics and security personnel allowances” to tackle banditry.null
